Designing the future: Visualizing next 10 years

For the upcoming book Hello Future!: The World in 2035, which envisions the next decade of innovation, I had the exciting challenge of crafting a graphic that captures the wide range of topics shaping our world in 2035 and beyond.

Using Photoshop, I began by revamping a stock image of a signpost to highlight the book’s themes and concepts. My first step was to tidy up the image by eliminating sign entries that could clutter the design. After that, I carefully removed the original text from the signposts, paving the way for fresh content.

Next, I created text assets for each term the author wanted to feature, ensuring they matched the book’s vision. I utilized the Vanishing Point filter to align the text with the signposts’ perspective perfectly, then applied layer masks to integrate the new text seamlessly. To finalize, I introduced subtle distortions and blurs to enhance the realism of the effect.

This project was a fascinating and energizing experience. It not only allowed me to hone my skills—particularly with the Vanishing Point tool, which was new to me—but also encouraged me to delve into and reflect on future-focused ideas.
